Welcome to Literature & Critical Reading

"We develop thoughtful readers, critical thinkers, and the ability to interpret literature with depth, insight, and confidence"

Beyond meeting the reading expectations of the Canadian English Language Arts curriculum, Grade 6–12 students develop the ability to engage with literature at increasing levels of depth and complexity. Through carefully selected texts, structured live classes, guided analysis, meaningful discussion, and evidence-based interpretation, students strengthen reading comprehension, literary analysis, critical thinking, and the ability to evaluate ideas, themes, characters, perspectives, and authorial choices. Over four weeks, students progress from understanding what they read to analyzing, interpreting, and evaluating literature with greater depth, independence, and insight.

How is Literature & Critical Reading structured?

Literature & Critical Reading is a 4-week, level-based program for Grades 6–12, offered every month throughout the year in both group and private formats. Students attend two live classes per week, with literature and analysis selected according to the reading expectations and complexity appropriate for their grade level.

Does the literature change each month?

Yes. Each monthly section explores different literature, allowing students to participate throughout the year without repeating the same material. Across the 12 monthly sections, students encounter a variety of texts, genres, authors, themes, perspectives, and literary techniques while continually advancing their critical reading and analytical skills.

What skills do students develop through Literature & Critical Reading?

tudents progress beyond basic comprehension to learn how to analyze, interpret, and evaluate literature. They examine themes, characters, conflicts, literary devices, perspectives, and authorial choices; develop evidence-based interpretations; participate in meaningful literary discussions; and learn to approach increasingly complex texts with greater depth, independence, and critical insight.

Every student can become a deeper reader and stronger critical thinker through meaningful literature, thoughtful analysis, and purposeful discussion. Contact us to discover how Literature & Critical Reading can transform the way you read, interpret, and engage with ideas.
